Dragon's Eye: A Worthwhile Longan Adventure

Dragon's Eye jam, made from Longans (which literally means dragon's eye in Cantonese) are grown on large trees throughout southeast Asia. The are related to both lychees and rambutans. With a texture like grapes, they are very juicy and sweet. If I had to describe it in my own words though, Longans are the ugly step sister of rambutans and lychees, however she is the tastiest of them all. It's kind of a Cinderella story if you don't think about it too hard. She's the tastiest at the PB&J ball, the yummiest queen on the toast masquerade, and the royal topping of ice cream gala.
